Lyon

The second largest city in France, Lyon is located in the Rhone-Alps region of France strategically positioned between the mountainous region, Paris and France's other major city Marseilles on the Mediterranean. In the past, Lyon was an important city in the silk trade, which left a network of traboules, which once served as quarters for workers in the silk trade.

Lyon is also known for its annual Fete de Lumieres, which attracts 4 million visitors to the city to admire the large scale light installations throughout the city for four days at the beginning of December.

Lyon also upholds a strong gastronomic tradition and is home to the famous "bouchons Lyonnais" which is famous for its French bistro cuisine at affordable prices.
