Mykonos

One of the most important islands of the Cyclades, Mykonos has always been famous for its nightlife, gay-friendly atmosphere and windmills. One should not be surprised though that the entire island is a bit overpriced.

The windmills have been the island’s landmark for centuries. In the past they have been used for grinding cereals but now they serve either as museums or dwellings. Another famous landmark is “Little Venice”, a small settlement located right by the waterfront. It’s the place where artists flock for inspiration and where tourists can enjoy the Greek cuisine and music while watching the incredible sunsets. Pass by the waterfront of Chora to greet the island’s mascot: Petros, the pelican.

But Mykonos is also famous for its beaches. While the majority of them are tourist places, which become overcrowded during the tourist season, one in particular stands out: Agios Ioannis Beach, a small beach ideal for snorkeling, sunbathing and swimming.
