The volcanic island in the Cyclades is famous for the stunning sunsets, lovely views of the volcano and the black beaches. Incredible wines are produced here as well, thanks to the unique qualities of the volcanic soil.
The most important attraction on the island is the volcano. The present configuration is the result of a devastating eruption which led to the destruction of the village of Akrotiri. The small villages of Fira, Oia and Thirasis are perched on the sides of the volcano, offering some of the most dramatic views on the island.
Santorini is also known as the place to see some of the most spectacular sunsets in the world. In the villages, the sun literally disappears into the volcano, while on the beaches you can see the sun setting in the water.
