South Africa

The second largest city in South Africa, Cape Town is also the legislative capital of the country. Known as the “Mother City”, the metropolitan area covers a large area, while the city itself is tucked between Table Mountain and Table Bay.

One of the most interesting places to see is the Bo-Kaap Neighborhood, historically inhabited by mainly Muslim descendants of slaves from South-East Asia and home to some very colorful buildings. The Castle of Good Hope comprises collections of historical military paraphernalia, an art collection and the history of the castle. There’s also a café inside the Castle.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the town, then head to Table Mountain. The protected area includes the area around Boulders where the penguin colony is located. Hiking and scuba diving are also practiced here. There’s a cable car going up to Table Mountain.
