Granada

Granada is one of the many cities in Spain that wears its Moorish influences like a badge - it's impossible to look around the historical landmarks in Granada and not see that there's something distinctly different going on there than in buildings of similar ages in other European countries. Located in southern Spain, Granada is home to one of the country's best-known tourist attractions - the Alhambra - but even without the Alhambra, Granada is well worth a visit.

Any city with a good-sized university is bound to have a lively feel and vibrant nightlife, and that's true of Granada. Besides that, there are some great cultural and historic sights to check out, and if you're visiting in the winter you can use Granada as a great base from which to enjoy some skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains nearby.
