Portland

Frequently voted one of the most "livable"cities in the United States, Portland is a strangely popular destination in spite of having not a single famous landmark. Along with Seattle and Vancouver, BC, this city is famous for its gray and drizzly winters, but locals say that reputation is partly intentional just to keep more people from moving there.

The downtown area is delightful and clean, and within close walking distance are several other trendy neighborhoods that are each worth visiting. The enormous Powell's bookstore in the Pearl District is one of the busiest attractions for visitors, and once you see the place you'll know exactly why.
