Search Macau hostels with up-to-date availability and book a hostel in Macau.
Macau is well known for being the gambling hub of Asia. Having a special status in China, just like Hong Kong, Macau is not exactly what you’d describe a cheap place to visit.
With 3-star hotels in Macau easily costing 650 CNY (US$103) per night (for a double room), if you are looking to save some money while visiting the area’s superb colonial architecture — or while saving for gambling — then the next best option remains a hostel.
Macau is not a big place. It comprises the peninsula, two island and a land strip which was reclaimed to be home of the newest casinos in the area. Between a gambling hot spot and small strips of land, room prices are high and cheap hostels pretty much non existent.
Major hostel booking websites list two hostel-like establishments, but neither is a hostel (as backpackers would consider a hostel to be).
Ole London Hotel is located within walking distance of the major sights and is more of a 2-star accommodation than a hostel, offering private double rooms for its guests. Finding available rooms here is quite a challenge so book way in advance (as in 4 months in advance). Double rooms cost US$82.46 per night (in mid-July 2012).
Fu Hua Guangdong Hotel Macau is located in the heart of Macau Peninsula and is more of a 3-star hotel than hostel. Beds start at US$41.23 per night but finding available rooms is another story. So, book well in advance.
