Jazz on the Park is the flagship hostel in the Jazz Hostels chain. There are five Jazz Hostels in New York (and one in Miami!), and Jazz on the Park is, as the name suggests, near Central Park in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. It has been open since 1998 and actually occupies two buildings – the one with the main check in desk on 106th St. also houses the hostel’s coffee bar, but most of the rooms are in a separate building around the corner. Once you check in the staff will get you where you need to go.
Rooms at Jazz on the Park range from dorm style rooms with 10-12 beds to private double rooms and twin rooms. Some private rooms come with a private en suite bathroom, but some make use of shared bathrooms nearby. Each room comes with small bag lockers (one per bed) and there are extra coin-operated luggage lockers on each floor for any excess goodies you want to keep safe. Like those Prada shoes you bought on 5th Avenue. Or whatever.
Some of the amenities you will find at Jazz on the Park are:

Jazz on the Park is conveniently located near lots of New York’s main sights, including Central Park (duh), the Museum of Natural History, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine and the New York Historical Society, not to mention countless fantastic restaurants, bars and shops, but if you just do not feel like going out at night after a long day of sight seeing, the hostel’s fun coffee bar is an excellent place to hang out with friends. Jazz on the Park also occasionally organizes pub crawls and summer BBQs in the backyard, so be sure to ask about those when you check in.
All the Jazz Hostels have good reputations, but Jazz on the Park is where it all started and a fun hostel to stay in as well as hang out in.
