Where to stay

Also, plenty of locals offer rooms for rent for excellent rates (and you don’t need to do much because they stay right in the train and bus stations waiting for tourists).

Things to do

While most travelers come here for the beaches and the activities related to them, there are also plenty of other things to do. Put on your walking shoes, grab your camera and enjoy the city’s architecture.

Or, go to Ponta da Piedade, a lovely place with a lighthouse. From here you can take one of the tours to the caves.

Capela dos Ossos is a small bone chapel on the side of Igreja do Sao Sebastiano. The views from the bell tower are stunning.

You can spend time soaking up the sun on Praia da Batata or Meia Praia, but you can also take a long walk along the shore or explore other places in the Algarve. Dolphin tours are also popular and they depart from the harbor.

Ceramic dishes and cork products are the main things you can pick up from the stores and markets in the area. If the budget allows, you can get lovely souvenirs for the friends and family back home.
