There are three international and twenty domestic airports in Vietnam. The international airports are located in Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN)
Tan Son Nhat International Airport is located in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) is Vietnam’s largest airport in terms of area, capacity and passengers. The airport serves Saigon and the entire southern Vietnam region.
The international terminal (terminal 2) is served by airlines from all over the world.. Among the airlines flying into Saigon we can list: Air Asia, Air China, Air France, All Nipon Airways, Asiana Airlines, Bangkok Airways, China Airlines, Finnair, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar Airlines and United Airlines, as well as the domestic carrier Vietnam Airlines. The flights practically connect Vietnam to cities all over the world: Paris, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, Singapore, Jakarta, Tokyo and Manila, to name just a few.
Immigration desks are available for both ASEAN and non-ASEAN residents. The non-ASEAN residents generally need a visa to enter the country, purchased before entering the country. Duty free shops and exchange offices are also available within the airport.
To get to the city center the air-conditioned airport bus, service number 152, is the cheapest way. The route passes most major tourist hotels so it’s especially useful for the tourists.

Noi Bai International Airport (HAN)
Noi Bai International Airport is located in Hanoi , Vietnam’s capital and is the biggest airport in northern Vietnam. The airport is located at 45 km / 28 miles from downtown and to get there it takes about 20-30 minutes by taxi.
Although the airport is small compared to the other two international airports in Vietnam, it’s newer and more modern.
The airlines operating on the airport include Tiger Airlines, Air Asia, Air France, China Airlines Hong Kong Airlines and Vladivostok Air, to name just a few. It is also served by the domestic carrier Vietnam Airlines. Practically Hanoi is linked to cities all over the world, such as: Paris, Frankfurt, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.
In order to go to the city center, you can take Hanoi city buses number 07 and 17. The ticket costs 5,000 dong (US$0.03) and the journey takes about an hour. Airport taxis have fixed fares and cost between US$10 and US$12 depending on the type of car. The Airport Minibus also takes tourists to the city for US$2 (for foreigners) but it only leaves after it’s completely filled.

Da Nang International Airport (DAD)
Da Nang International Airport is located in Da Nang and is the third international airport in Vietnam. Compared to the other two airports, Da Nang is served by fewer airlines, which include: Asiana Airlines, Far Eastern Air Transport, Pacific Airlines and Singapore Airlines, as well as the domestic carrier Vietnam Airlines. These connect the city mostly to Asian cities but also to European ones (Moscow).
Currently the airport is being upgraded and the new terminal opening in 2010 is expected to handle 4 million passengers.
