Search here for great deals on cheap airfare to Ho Chi Minh City
Ho Chi Minh City, commonly known as Saigon, is the largest city in Vietnam. Even though tourists visiting Vietnam might not spend too much time here, the city’s airport is the largest airport in the country so tourists definitely fly in and out of the city a lot.
An airport serving Ho Chi Minh City
The city is served by Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) , Vietnam’s largest airport. It handles almost 13 million passengers per year (that’s double the capacity of Hanoi’s airport). It is hub for several airlines: Air Mekong, Jetstar Pacific Airlines, VASCO and Vietnam Airlines. It receives direct flights from other cities in Asia and also from important destinations in Europe.
Finding cheap flights to Ho Chi Minh City
Since Ho Chi Minh City is located in the southern part of the country, which is hot year-round, we cannot talk about high and low season for traveling here. If you want to save some money and avoid the crowds, don’t plan to fly during January and February (Tet Holiday).
The dry period, and when everyone wants to be here, is between March and May. That’s when the flights are most expensive. Do plan in advance and book your flight ahead of time if you want to travel during this time of the year.
Sometimes it’s cheaper if you take a connecting flight. So even though you might find a direct flight from Europe, do look for alternative routes. If you fly from Australia or the Americas you’ll have to make a stop along the way — most like in Bangkok, Thailand — since there aren’t direct flights into Ho Chi Minh City.
